The clean life in Recovery has had it's ups and downs. I was one that always thought that if I was clean everything should run perfect. Oh how far off from reality was I? Today I know the difference but it took a long time for me to finally understand or should I say try and understand what it was all about.
My life in recovery started on January 12, 2002 besides the introduction that I talked about in the About Me section in 1996. And even though I haven't remained clean since 2002, it is all part of my journey in recovery, and today I can be extremely grateful for each and everything that has been brought my way. Although some days I am not all that Grateful, this is a learning process into a much different life than before. In my lifetime I have never remained clean for more than 698 Days which should equal up to being around 1 month and 1 week from 2 years clean. Today is that day as I am sitting here writing. The last time that this has ever happened was in 2004 it was the same day in which I relapsed, with a woman, and dope. So today I am very grateful that I remain clean Just For Today!
Through the fellowship of the Programs, working the Steps, getting and using a sponsor, Meetings, and MY HP, I haven't had to use since May 25, 2006 and for that I am eternally Grateful. This has been a adventure that I never thought would have ever been possible, especially after the last relapse in February on Valentines Day. Today I know how truly special that Recovery is, and I also treat it as a priceless gift! I protect my Sobriety Today with whatever it takes to keep it and not to loose it again. They say in the Program watch out for the Yets, however I am a firm believer in watching out for the Agains. Makes since to me and that is all that I need in order to keep moving forward One Day At A Time!
