When you are facing a lifetime of anxiety disorder, you can easily turn to drugs for escapism. Many people every single day turn to this as a means to escape the horrors of anxiety disorder, and drug addiction can only make things worse. This is hard to explain to the person suffering from anxiety disorder as the symptoms can be absolutely horrifying. One feeds the other until they both turn your world upside down.
Anxiety disorder can cause a number of scary symptoms. It can imitate a heart attack, stroke, cancer and anything else that the sufferer might be fearing at a given time. That is the power of anxiety disorder. When a person has severe anxiety disorder, then often will think that they have a million different diseases. A simple case of the flu might be the onset of cancer in their minds, and the emotions one might get while facing this are incredibly hard to handle. Imagine dying over and over in your mind, and then being told to just get over it. Imagine being told that the symptoms are being caused by your own body, and that you are not sick even though you have all the symptoms of a deadly problem. Then think about the frustration you might feel after twenty years of this.
These anxiety disorder symptoms are real and powerful. They are scary as hell, and anyone that has suffered from this deadly disease can relate to the need to cover up the symptoms. Hell, even the treatment for anxiety disorder is simply a cover up for the symptoms. Anxiety drugs are usually little more than a way to stop feeling things. It is no wonder that many people turn to drugs instead.
What people with anxiety disorder do not realize is that recreational drugs will only make the disorder stronger, and make your hell even worse. They will give you a brand new problem to worry about instead of just the anxiety disorder. That hour or two of being high will cost you your life eventually, and the hope for recovery will slowly erode. You will eventually be living your life to find the next high, rather than finding the cure for anxiety disorder in your own case.
Anxiety disorder can be beaten. It happens every day, and it happens to people from all over the world. It makes no difference whether you have had the problem for one week or one decade, you can recover. Anxiety disorder plays upon your fears. Drugs amplify your fears in most cases. What do you think that means to any chance you might have for a normal life?
If you are facing anxiety disorder, trust me when I say that drugs are the worst possible cure. In fact, they are no cure at all. You might as well be adding fuel onto your anxiety fire. Find a good therapist and treatment center instead, and work on the interior healing that will cure you for good. Never give up, because a cure will be coming. You simply have to believe and never give up.
