Co-occurring disorder is also termed as dual diagnosis and it refers to drug addiction, which is combined by a psychiatric illness or an emotional illness. Both addiction and psychiatric illness have their own symptoms and these disorders might get in the way of handling life difficulties, relating to others and ability to function. Both problems interact with each other and affect each other. If treatment is not given to mental health problem, the drug addiction problem worsens and when drug addiction increases it will again lead to serious mental health problems.
